Redacting Sensitive Information from Court Filings
Attorneys must redact personal identifiers, financial data, and privileged information from documents before public filing. Improper redaction (such as black boxes that can be removed) can expose confidential client data.
Workflow
- Review the document and identify all information requiring redaction
- Mark each piece of sensitive data for redaction using annotation tools
- Apply permanent redactions that remove the underlying text, not just overlay it
- Use the PDF to Text Extractor to verify that redacted content is no longer present in the extracted text
