Digitizing Legacy Paper Accounting Ledgers
Businesses transitioning to digital accounting need to scan and archive years of paper ledgers. Scanned images must be organized chronologically and compressed for long-term digital storage.
Workflow
- Scan ledger pages using a flatbed scanner at 300 DPI (JPEG or PNG)
- Use the Image Rotator to correct any skewed scans
- Use the Image Cropper to remove scanner bed margins
- Convert scanned images to multi-page PDFs using Image to PDF (one PDF per ledger book)
- Use PDF Metadata Editor to tag each PDF with the date range and account type
- Apply PDF Compression and archive in the document management system
